Locate a suitable vehicle

We love searching for interesting cars on your behalf.

In most cases, our clients come to us armed with a link to the car of their dreams, ready for us to chase. But we love searching for interesting cars on your behalf too. In many cases, you can give us a total budget in your own currency and we can calculate what you can spend in Australia, courtesy of our rather clever export calculator. We have access to dealer-only car auctions, as well as other excellent spots that are not readily available to the general public. Twenty plus years in the car game means our vehicle-finding networks are well developed!

Negotiate on your behalf

We will make contact with the seller for you

Once we’ve found ‘the one’ we will make contact with the seller for you. It’s worth noting that sellers tend to be far more honest about the vehicle condition if they know the potential buyer is local rather than overseas. In most cases, Australian sellers are open to negotiation, so if you’re not one for haggling, we’re happy to do so on your behalf - remember, we are on YOUR side, not the seller’s. Who knows, you may save more than our service fee before your new car even goes on the boat!

Purchase the vehicle

We will pay a deposit to the seller on your behalf

Once a final price has been settled, we will pay a deposit to the seller on your behalf and send you the payment details so that you can transfer/wire us the payment for the vehicle.

We have an excellent system in place to ensure your money doesn’t end up in the wrong spot; as you can imagine, it’s incredibly hard to recall an overseas transfer if it’s sent to an incorrect account.

Arrange Transport

As already mentioned, we allow AUD200 for this part of the process, which covers any cars located in most capital cities. For cars located in remote areas and/or where transport is expensive, we can get a quote for you before you purchase the vehicle so you can decide whether or not to go ahead with the deal. All our vehicles are transported on fully-insured tilt-tray transporters, rather than driven or towed. Note that we generally advise against making separate arrangements with the seller to drive their car anywhere once sold, as they can often be fairly ‘mechanically unsympathetic’ once they have money in their bank account and the car technically belongs to you, the buyer.

Export Documentation

Supply all export documentation

If the vehicle you purchase is still registered for road use in Australia or New Zealand we will ensure that it is de-registered and the authorities notified that the vehicle is being exported. We will also complete a security check prior to purchase to ensure that your vehicle is not under finance or stolen. Destination countries have a wide range of expectations in terms of export paperwork. Some require almost nothing while others (like the USA) have an extensive list of requirements. We can provide electronic copies or mail the original documents as required.

Co-ordinate shipping to your country

Depending on where the car is (and where you are!), we will ship your new vehicle to your nearest port via the cheapest method. Generally, this is via RO-RO, which stands for Roll-On Roll-Off vessel. RO-RO vessels are like a giant, fully enclosed ferry where your car is safe from the elements. It’s the shipping method used by almost all new vehicle manufacturers. If RO-RO is not available, or you have additional parts travelling with the car, then shipping in a container is your best option. As a general rule, you can transport parts inside the car without incurring additional cost if shipping in a container, so it makes sense to use the opportunity if you can. Once the car is on the vessel and on its way to you, we will send you all the paperwork you need to clear the car off the docks in your country.
